Pilates is an invigorating form of exercise for your mind and body that can improve your strength, flexibility and overall mobility.

The Pilates method uses controlled movements and breathing to tone and strengthen the body as well as focus the mind. This session is open to people with cancer, their familes and friends, and health professionals.

Reiki, a Japanese word for universal life energy, is a relaxing and gentle technique where therapists believe they act as a channel for energy which they transfer through their hands to aid self-healing, rebalancing and relaxation.

A Reiki session involves sitting or lying down fully clothed, while the practitioner gently places their hands on or just above the body in a sequence of positions that allows energy to flow from the practitioner through to the person.

This monthly networking group is for men with any type of cancer. You're welcome to attend before, during or after treatment. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month. It's a chance to talk to other people in a similar situation and share emotions or feelings that you might not want to discuss with family members. The group is facilitated by a specialist nurse who can answer questions about cancer or treatments.

CanExercise is cancer rehabilitation through exercise.

Movements and exercises are incorporated to regain and maintain range of motion, restore physical and emotional balance, reduce your risk of developing lymphoedema or to help control existing lymphoedema, and generally raise your energy levels whilst having fun!

Acupuncture helps rebalance the flow of energy, blood and fluids and can help to relieve pain. It works by stimulating and balancing the energy in the body through placing sterile, hair thin, needles into ‘acupuncture points’. Our acupucturist can use small silver sticks placed over the acupuncture points instead of needles.

Art Therapy is a type of psychotherapy that uses art materials as its main way expressing and communicating. Expressive art is a way to explore your feelings in a non-judgemental space, particularly those that can be difficult to put into words. No skill or experience is needed.

Concentrating on creating art can help slow down, relax and process your thoughts. Your unconscious mind can express feelings through pictures, colour and shapes that you might struggle to put into words. By doing that you may begin to understand more of what you’re feeling, which can help to build your confidence.

Finding out that you or a loved one has cancer affects people in many different ways. Some find it difficult to express in words the many complicated feelings that come with a diagnosis of cancer. This is where the Expressive Art group comes in: sometimes it can be easier to express yourself visually rather than verbally.

Yoga offers a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, combining mind (focus and attention), energy (breathing practices) and body (movement and postures).

The practice of yoga exercises can help to stretch and flex the body, develop breath awareness, relaxation and sometimes meditation.
